It appears he is ready to hang up his boots, however, as he has already held talks with the Man United hierarchy over the position of technical director, according to Sky Sports.Ed Woodward, the club’s executive vice-chairman, has been planning to introduce a sporting director for a number of months now, and it is believed an appointment will be made this summer. Rio Ferdinand, United’s former defender, was linked with the role earlier this month, while Mike Phelan was said to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s preferred candidate before he was confirmed as the Red Devils’ assistant last week.Woodward wants someone who knows the club to be the link between the board and Solskjaer, and Fletcher has plenty of Old Trafford know-how.
